Dr. Ilora Maity is a Research Associate at the University of Luxembourg. She is a member of the Signal Processing and Satellite Communications research group, SIGCOM, headed by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas. Her current research interests include satellite communications, software-defined networking (SDN), network slicing, quantum communication infrastructure, and mobile edge computing (MEC).

She worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at MOSAIC Lab led by Prof. Tarik Taleb at Aalto University, Finland. Ilora received her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree under the supervision of Prof. Sudip Misra and Prof. Chittaranjan Mandal from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, in 2021. During her Ph.D., she was a member of the Smart Wireless Applications & Networking (SWAN) Research Group, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, led by Prof. Sudip Misra. Her Ph.D. thesis is "Towards Scalable SDN: Enhancement in Data and Control Planes." During her Ph.D., she received a fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), India, to support her research. Her Ph.D. dissertation addresses the scalability issues of SDN data and control planes. The capacity of the switches limits the scalability of the data plane. On the other hand, the control plane's scalability depends mainly on the placement of the controllers. In her Ph.D. work, she has proposed efficient solution approaches based on a solid mathematical background to enhance SDN scalability. Her solution focuses on rule-space capacity management, flow-rule update, controller placement, control plane load management, and energy-efficient traffic engineering. She has used mathematical concepts such as queueing theory, game theory, tensor decomposition, Markov predictor, and simulated annealing for her research work.

Ilora received her Master of Engineering (M.E. ) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (Formerly known as Bengal Engineering and Science University), Shibpur, India, in 2011. Her M.E. Thesis is entitled "A CA-based scheme for fault diagnosis in wsn." She received her Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MCKV Institute of Engineering, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (Formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology), India, in 2008. She is a member of IEEE. She has worked as a Technical Analyst of Banking & Financial Services in Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata, India, from September 2011 to July 2015.
